Jeremy Laura: Farewell Mike Green

It's about what I expected. Holland gets a player he knows and likes. Pays a cheap price. Yzerman gets a 4th round pick for an aging pending UFA. No fleecing here. Good trade for both sides.

A fourth rounder is not a terrible return for the player Green is these days. Not great, but not terrible. Probably about fair, honestly. The Red Wings had to get SOMETHING for him and if this was the best deal available, so be it.

Farewell, Mike. Always liked him as a player and a person and I think he was really underappreciated in Detroit. But I think his injury problems the last few years really accelerated his decline.

Should have been traded 2 seasons ago, but oh well, I'll take it.

Makes sense for both sides.
